Joemeek floorQ Optical Compressor Pedal Reviews
This is one of those pedals that you don't even realize you're using until one day you remove it.
The FloorQ is a silent workhorse that works transparently to even out the volume level of your input signal. Set to a more gentle compression setting, you won't even know it's there until you turn it off. Crank up the Slope and Compress knobs, and adjust your attack and release, and you will have a smooth breathing "pumping" sound.
Personally, it's the first pedal in my signal chain. I use a medium compression setting that really just evens out the volume. I put it first in the signal chain because it is an excellent class A preamp. You may ask "why do I want a class A preamp at all?" I want a little bit of a clean boost to push my EH English Muff'n overdrive pedal to distort just the way I like. I get a stronger guitar signal than just from the pickups alone, with zero distortion. So it's just more of what my guitar puts out. Single coils, humbuckers, either can be brought up to the same level for my pedals and amp.
With the class A preamp plus a top-shelf compressor, this pedal is definitely a keeper. I have shopped around for a while before deciding on the joemeek. It just outperforms and is much more tweakable than many of its competitors' compressors.
