Simply put, no other control surface offers this kind of integration of SONAR. That's because the V-Studio 700's VS-700C console was designed from the ground up to put you in touch with SONAR's essential functions. For starters, you can get your hands on nine motorized, touch-sensitive faders (between which you can quickly bank) to take charge of each and every mix. On each channel, you'll also have a vibrant LED display meter display plus individual select/mute/solo/record-arm controls — in addition to a 2 x 13 LCD display on top of the unit, to let you know which track is currently on each fader.
Full-service, button-laden control panels make the mouse a thing of the past
The SONAR VS700C is loaded up with buttons, knobs — even a joystick — to do one thing: make your workflow as fluid and effective as possible. To the left of the faders, an access panel lets you toggle between different screens within SONAR, hit the stage edits from the console, and toggle modifiers to use your favorite SONAR short-cuts. Above this area, a Channel Strip Control offers 12 rotary encoders/switches which auto-map to whatever effect or synth you have pulled up in SONAR. Last, but not least, on the right-hand side of the unit, there's a full-service transport control section with a jog/shuttle wheel, zoom controls, two headphone outs, and a hi-Z instrument input for quickly plugging in your guitar and tracking. Above that, a multi-function T-Bar can control video hardware, "X-Ray" to show you which plug-ins are currently in use, adjust front/rear surround balance, or any other function you assign. Next to that, there's a surround/LFE send joystick, a V-Link button to enable video hardware control, and three knobs to control headphone and monitor levels.
