Perfect your studio workflow - take hands-on control of SONAR 8
Simply put, no other control surface offers this kind of integration of SONAR. That's because the V-Studio 700's VS-700C console was designed from the ground up to put you in touch with SONAR's essential functions. For starters, you can get your hands on nine motorized, touch-sensitive faders - which you can quickly bank between - to take charge of each and every mix. On each channel, you'll also have a vibrant LED display meter display plus individual select/mute/solo/record-arm controls - in addition to a 2x13 LCD display on top of the unit, to let you know which track is currently on each fader.

Full-service, button-laden control panels make the mouse a thing of the past
The SONAR V-Studio 700 rig is loaded up with buttons, knobs - even a joystick - to do one thing: make your workflow as fluid and effective as possible. To the left of the faders, an access panel lets you toggle between different screens within SONAR, hit the stage edits from the console, and toggle modifiers to use your favorite SONAR short-cuts. Above this area, a Channel Strip Control offers 12 rotary encoders/switches which auto-map to whatever effect or synth you have pulled up in SONAR. Last, but not least, on the right-hand side of the unit, there's a full-service transport control section with a jog/shuttle wheel, zoom controls, two headphone outputs, and a hi-Z instrument in for quickly plugging in your guitar and tracking. Above that, a multi-function T-Bar can control video hardware, "X-Ray" to show you which plug-ins are currently in use, adjust front/rear surround balance, or any other function you assign. Next to that, there's a surround/LFE send joystick, a V-Link button to enable video hardware control, and three knobs to control headphone and monitor levels.

Cakewalk's SONAR V-Studio 700 makes full-fledged, pro-level 24-bit/192kHz recording possible, as it's packed with nothing but the highest-grade preamplifiers and A/D converters. The preamps and converters, in fact, are the same as those found on Roland's state-of-the-art V-Mixing M-400 console. In all, the included VS-700R USB 2.0 interface offers 21 ins and 30 outputs (19-in/24-out simultaneously), including eight digitally controlled microphone preamplifiers on TRS/XLR inputs, ADAT I/O, digital I/O, MIDI I/O, and word clock I/O. With that kind of I/O complement, the SONAR V-Studio 700 is already a complete powerhouse rig, but you can rest assured that it's ready to grow with your future needs. Should you ever need more inputs, you can always add another VS-700R unit to the rig for a robust 41-in/56-out rig, with 37-in/48-out at once.

The SONAR V-Studio 700's VS-700R interface is more than just a robust portal for your studio's lots of I/O needs - it's packed with DSP processing power, so you can tailor your sound before you ever decide to call a plug-in into service. Use the premium in DSP to apply the right equalization or compression to an in source - or use the highpass filter to squelch problematic low-end before you hit "record." The built-in DSP also handles other useful audio-tailoring needs, as it offers built-in phase and pad control.

Roland's Fantom synthesizer has swept the globe with its incredible set of sounds - and, with the Cakewalk SONAR V-Studio 700, you've got access to that renowned sonic palette! That's because there's actually a Fantom VS synthesizer made right into the hardware, and it sports more than 1,400 patches to heat up your creativity. The synthesizer acts as a VSTi plug-in, so you can seamlessly edit and route it within SONAR - and, since it's actually a hardware synth, you won't have the issues with latency that other virtual instruments can cause. Finally, if you want to expand the amount of sounds available in your hardware synth, you can do it - just add any Roland SuperNATURAL ARX expansion board to the extra slot found in the VS-700R audio interface. Currently, there are everything from piano to drums to brass expansions available - all with unbelievably realistic sound sets.
