In fact, the V7 is much more accurate than many systems that do. By sending MIDI to your computer at 10 times the standard rate, V7 can control your software with the kind of accuracy that's indistinguishable from the sound of a needle in a groove.
The V7 also sports invaluable navigation and effects functions. You can completely navigate your playlists simply and quickly from the V7's browser controls. It also features Numark's "Strip Search" controller, which uses a horizontal controller ribbon to simulate needle drop auditioning. That means you can load tracks, search for exact locations with in them, and even set start and loop points all without mousing around on your laptop like you're checking your e-mail.
There are three basic ways to use the V7: alone, with another turntable, and with another V7. On its own, the V7 can control both decks at once in Serato ITCH and other DJ software. You can even hook it up to a standard DJ mixer and scratch with just one V7, allowing for highly minimalist setups. Naturally, you can always use one V7 to control playback from one or both of ITCH's decks and incorporate a old school turntable into your set. But where the V7 really shines is in combination with another V7. A link function lets you make a completely customizable performance environment. Together, a pair of V7s allow control for up to four decks at once. And by plugging into the open USB port on the second deck, you can even handoff control between two DJs with separate computers, without ever stopping the music!
