First off this is a really great amp! Fender did an amazing job. So why 4 stars? First I should say I'm a metal head and LOVE treble. I also like things to sounds crystal clear and bright.
For the most part using the effects on this amp makes it sound muddy like a milked over sound. However, that can be bypassed. Here's what I did to get exceptional sound. I used an effects pedal (... read more [+] Behringer V-amp ) instead of the amp's effects on the clean channel and WOW what a difference! This amp ( on the clean channel ) is seriously responsive to external fx pedals. I can only imagine how well this amp is going to sound when I get some anolog pedals pumping through it.
The FX that I did like about the amp are the reverb, chorus and delay. Those rock! However, where the FX falls short is a poor distortion FX. On a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 2.
Another thing I love about this 22 pound amp is that I don't have to carry something that weighs a ton to get great sound. When Fender made this they did something really great and that was you can plug this amp into a PA and pump out it's great sound that way as well. That's an Excellent feature!
Hands down it is the best $250.00 I've ever spent! If fender were to have added "Anolog" effects ( or at least an anolog distortion ) this little gem would be unstoppable!
Someone from my area on Craigslist described this amp as being a Boutique Style type of amp. I thought they were full of it. No he was absolutely correct!
Fender out did themselves with this little monster.
I LOVE IT! However, to get that extra crisp clear tone you'll need an external distortion preferably an anolog distortion.
Then connect that bad boy to a PA and let all hell break loose! Sonic Heaven!
