All the Interface You May Ever Need!
When you get the Focusrite Saffire PRO 40, you may be saving yourself from a TON of future headaches. Why? We've seen so many people do it: they get an audio interface that has enough inputs for what they want to do today... but it's totally got a closed door for expanding in the future. Then you end up spending even more on another audio interface that gets the job done, at the same time trying to hawk the one you've got off on eBay or whatever. Anyway. Don't do it. The Focusrite Saffire PRO 40 has you covered — whether you just want to record your voice and guitar, or whether you want to record your whole band and make a demo. You're going to love it. So, let us show you what we mean.Right onboard the Focusrite Saffire PRO 40 you've got eight (!!) preamps. And not just any preamps, we're talking about high-quality, award-winning Focusrite preamps. That's right. So, right off the bat you can record a drum kit the way the studio pros do. This is important — because while you may be just jamming with you and a friend today, you may be bringing in a drummer buddy someday and the future and there's nothing like running out of mic preamps when you need them the most. But here's where the Saffire PRO 40 gets really cool. It can handle a total of 20 inputs and 20 outputs, 8 of which can come via the ADAT lightpipe connector on the rear. So, if you've got another audio interface with an ADAT connector — or an 8-channel preamp with ADAT on it — you can easily get ANOTHER eight microphones connected for serious session work. You get where we're going.
On the output side, the Focusrite Saffire PRO 40 offers eight line outputs and you have two dedicated outputs for your studio monitors. The fun happens with the included 18x16 DSP Mixer/Router software that comes with the Saffire PRO 40. With a really easy-to-use mixing layout, you can pull up the software and decide what mix of signals you route to each output. Custom headphone mixes, here you come! Since all the mixing power happens on the Saffire PRO 40 itself, you don't have to deal with bogging down your computer with the headphone mixing stuff.. and you can leave it to what it's meant to do for you: record. And speaking of headphones, the Saffire PRO 40 features two headphone jacks right on the front panel. Each has its own level control, so you and a friend can customize your levels for your own ears.
All in all, an awesome value — loads of I/O and loads of routing flexibility for the low price. Factor in the suite of Focusrite plug-ins that come included — Compression, Reverb, Gating, and EQ (VST/AU plug-ins), and you've got a significant sonic upgrade for your studio with the Focusrite Saffire PRO 40.
All Focusrite FireWire interfaces are fully compatible with Thunderbolt using a simple FireWire to Thunderbolt adapter. Focusrite fully supports the use of Thunderbolt with its FireWire interfaces.
