Brass shell cuts through loud music
Brass snare drums cut through loud music but still maintain a good balance of brightness and richness that work well in most musical situations. The 14" x 5.5" SD-4455 follows a classic beaded design that offers structural strength and optimum tone. Rim shots and cross stick sounds have remarkably bright attacks.

Quick-release Nouveau lugs allow shell to vibrate
The SD-4455 features Yamaha's quick-release, low-contact Nouveau lugs. These allow the shell to vibrate for a more resonant drum and a wide dynamic range. The lugs allow much quicker head changes because the tension rods don't have to be removed to take the hoop off.


Detachable snare strainer makes changing bottom head easy
The SD-4455's detachable strainer and butt allow you to remove the snare wires for snare side head changes and re-attach them quickly with one drum key screw. A tension indicator lets you easily adjust your snares to the same tension when changing snare wires. A precision 1.8mm snare bed allows max projection without choking the drum.


2.3mm triple flanged Dyna Hoop allows accurate tuning
Yamaha's 2.3mm thick triple flange Dyna Hoops are bulletproof, giving you accurate tuning, yet they allow the drum to open up.
