The Fender Kingman Bass SCE has crossed that barrier by using a maple Jazz Bass neck mounted on an acoustic body. One of the biggest issues was the feel of the bass neck on acoustic instruments. Now you can have the feel and vibe of an electric, but the sound of an acoustic. The solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides gives the acoustic bass a warm, full-range sound. Want to plug in? The onboard Fishman Presys preamp system lets you dial in great bass tones for gigs requiring an amp or PA. There is even a built-in tuner for quick tuning.
