Why We Love This Product!

An Old-school 12-fret from Gretsch!

Ever hear of a Gretsch Rex acoustic guitar? Probably not. That's because Gretsch stopped making them well over 50 years ago. Part of Gretsch's Roots collection, the G9500 Jim Dandy Flat Top acoustic guitar brings back the sound and feel of one of their most popular guitars throughout the '30s, '40s, and '50s. It may be small (parlor sized, as they called it back in the day), but the G9500 Jim Dandy Flat Top packs more than enough volume, thanks to its 12-fret design and elongated upper bout. What's more, it's made of highly resonant agathis, which delivers the warm and mellow sound of mahogany with the wonderful resonance of pine. Whether you're looking for a great guitar for couch strumming or something different to play onstage, you'll get a real kick out of the Gretsch G9500 Jim Dandy Flat Top.

Gretsch G9500 Jim Dandy Flat Top 12-fret Acoustic Guitar Features at a Glance:
  • An old-fashioned 12-fret guitar that conjures up the sound and spirit of the '30s and '40s
  • Comfortable parlor-sized body makes this an excellent guitar for casual strumming on the couch
  • Elongated bouts and 12-fret design provide incredible projection and volume
  • Agathis back, sides, and top provide clear resonance, rich warmth, and a mellow, lyrical sound
  • Part of Gretsch's esteemed Roots Collection, reviving the classic Rex acoustic guitar

first I noticed the similarity to the old 'Stella'. None in stock locally so I ordered...(thinking it would need setup, and maybe a bit more work). Out of the box, that little sweetie 'stole my heart'...fine 'middle of the road' string height, fine voice, Nothing needed change or modification. I got a gator 3/4 hard shell case for protection. So what of it'sp priced at $30 more than the case...it is a treasure.

I wanted a parlor size guiter, but most were out of my price range. I found the Gretsch Jim Dandy for $149.00 and gave it a try. I'm glad I did, I took it out of the box tuned it and started playing. It has a solid sound for a small guitar. I did not have to have a set up done on it. It's a handsome looking guitar. It has that vintage look of a parlor guitar from the 50's. The finish is dull a... read more [+]nd quite dark, but in a good way. It is very well constructed and seems like it will hold up well to everyday playing . The tuners have a vintage look to them, and it stays in tune. I would recommond this guitar to anyone who has a limited budget, or wanted a nice parlor guitar, close [-]
