Why We Love This Product!

Amazing 12-string Tone!

Here's one of those little bits of guitar trivia that never fails to surprise people when you spring it at them: Takimine guitars are actually named after the Takamine Mountains in Sakashita, Japan. It's at the base of these mountains that Takamine guitars have been made for over 40 years! What began as a small family business has evolved into one of the leading guitar manufacturers in the world. The company opened its doors while guitar playing was gaining popularity in Japan during the early 60's. As business grew, the owners saw the need to develop their skills and attract design and manufacturing talent. One of the most important additions to the company was Mass Hirade, who joined Takamine in 1968 and made killer improvements to the design and build quality. The EF381SC is in the company's Keystone Series and is a stunning example of Takamine's obsession with building the best guitars that still come with reasonable price tags. For superior tone, it features a solid spruce top and the time-tested formula of maple back and sides with a solid mahogany neck.

Takamine EF381SC Dreadnought Cutaway Features at a Glance:
    • Mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard
    • Includes plush-lined hard case
    • Solid spruce top with maple back and sides
    • CT4B built-in preamplifier with three-band EQ
    • Single cutaway dreadnought style 12-string

Single cutaway dreadnought style 12-string
The EF381SC is part of Takamine's Keystone Series, which combines all the features that make these dreadnoughts so playable with a special cutaway design that looks awesome and also allows access to the upper frets. Though 12-string guitars tend go in and out of fashion, the build quality of this instrument guarantees that it will be ready to hit the stage for many years to come, regardless of the newest "flavor-of-the-day" music trends.

Solid spruce top with maple back and sides
Part of the reason the EC381SC sounds so good is its solid spruce top. It delivers just the right balance of glossy highs with a tight low end that's never boomy. The maple back and sides match the top perfectly. The Gloss Black finish is a study in understated elegance.

Mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard
The EF381SC adds the strength and durability of a solid mahogany neck, assuring owners that the neck will be straight and true for a long time to come. A rosewood fretboard is the classic choice. Here it's fully bound for a totally elegant look.

CT4B built-in preamplifier with three-band EQ
It wouldn't make sense to put so much effort into crafting a superb acoustic guitar and then just dropping in any old preamplifier. That's why Takamine chose the CT4B for the EF381SC. It features a three-band EQ that lets you adjust your amplified tone to taste. You can also take the output to your console with a brain-dead simple DI box for recordings.

Includes plush-lined hard case
A fine instrument deserves a nice place to stay when it's not hard at work on stage or in the studio. So Takamine includes their GC1128 plush-lined hard dreadnought guitar case at no extra charge.
