Numark's rackmounted three-channel DJ mixer, the C1, is a lesson in the beauty of simplicity. The Numark puts all of the essential DJ mixer functions right at the tips of your fingers by outfitting the C1's rack-mount front panel with all of the controls you need and none of the confusing bells and whistles found in more expensive mixers. The in section is ready to accept nearly any DJ equipment's outs, and even has an independent microphone in, so the C1 is ready for all of your gear.

Numark outfitted the C1 with a wide range of input options to meet the demands of DJ gear. Channel one's input is divided between the microphone input and a selection of two unbalanced, stereo line inputs, so if you want to talk or emcee over the music, or hook up a drum machine, you're already set. The microphone input also has a brain-dead really simple two-channel equalizer, so you can adjust your voice to the sound of the room. The C1's other two channels have selectable stereo phono or unbalanced line inputs on RCA connectors, which let you hook up almost any DJ oriented toys and get the best possible sound. Each of the C1's channels has a cue toggle, letting you audition your sound sources via the 1/4" headphone out, and there is a crossfader between channels two and three for full DJ mixer application.

With a push of a button you can fold the C1's out down to one mono out. That lets you check for phase or simply feed a club's mono rig correctly. Numark even included a five-channel equalizer, so you can tune the C1's out to accommodate the tone of the room. There are a total of five stereo outputs &mdash in addition to the stereo headphone output, there is a master and a recording out via stereo RCA jacks on the back of the C1, The headphone output is also highly intense, so you can be sure you'll be able to hear the cue even in crowded environments.
