Joe Barresi is synonymous with sweet rock production, having engineered and produced some of today's greatest modern rock bands, including Tool, Bad Religion, Queens of the Stone Age, and many more. He applied his techniques (and gear choices) to this awesome collection, putting his stamp on its sound and, well, bringing the rock!
Proven rock recording techniques
Barresi chose to record the Evil Drums collection at his two favorite drum rooms, using the exact same recording process he's used on numerous album projects. With expert use of the studios' Neve mixers, analog tape and his own esoteric collection of microphone preamps, equalizers and compressors, Joe has created a diverse collection of drum sounds. And with individual control of the direct tracks, the stereo room and the compressed mono room in BFD it's possible to make an amazing amount of different styles from the same kits.
Quality drums from incredible manufacturers
The 70GB of samples on Joe Barresi Evil Drums for BFD were taken from recordings of 64 drums and cymbals, played by Bobby Jarzombek. Drums/cymbals are included from Gretsch, Tama, Pork Pie, Ayotte, Drum Workshop, Zildjian/Noble & Cooley, Ludwig, Zildjian, and Paiste. Astoundingly accurate and amazing-sounding, these samples were recorded with as many as 250 velocity levels, giving you killer sound and a gigantic range of expression.
