Heyyyy Bassists, You've Got to Get This!!!
The B2M may have a simple name, but you're going to find an INSANE amount of creative ways to use this affordable little guy!! What the heck is it? B2M stands for "Bass to MIDI." In short, you plug your bass in to one side and you plug the MIDI output into whatever you want on the other (your DAW, a synth... whatever). All of a sudden, your favorite bass guitar is now a sweet MIDI controller that's ready to trigger/control/perform whatever you want with monophonic action. You don't need any special pickups or any mods to your bass... just a regular old ¼" instrument cable and a MIDI cable. Done.Just how might you use this slick little B2M? Well, sonuus — the folks who made it — have a number of ideas. First up, if you've got music notation software, you can easily use the B2M to turn your monophonic bass lines into pro notation. You don't need to use the mouse or anything — very nice. Follow that same thread of software thought, and you'll dig using the B2M to play any and every software synthesizer or virtual instrument you've got in your DAW. And you won't BELIEVE how fun it is to plug your B2M into a hardware synth when you're performing onstage... just turn on a pad or something kooky and listen to your bass triggering the ethereal. It's all really cool.
To make the B2M even cooler, there's a built-in tuner for standard bass guitar tuning — 4–7 strings. And you can power your B2M with a battery, so you won't have to deal with some clunky power supply. All in all, this little box adds up to a really good time. Get plugged into the B2M and you'll know what we mean.
