Iconic Fender Tube Tone! The Fender '57 Twin is the amp that started it all. If you've ever heard a record made before 1967 and fallen in love with the sweet guitar sound - smooth, fat distortion and perfect clean tones - the '57 Twin was quite likely the amp being used. The Fender '57 Twin was a favorite of the Rolling Stones and many other heavyweights of the 1960s, and this is your chance to capture that classic tone.
Fender '57 Twin Classic Reissue At-a-Glance:
- Hand-wired Tube-driven Circuitry
- Sought-after Tone
- Perfect Compliment for Strats and Teles
Hand-wired Tube-driven Circuitry
This tube-driven combo amp has hand-wired circuitry; Fender even reproduced the 1955-57 edition "low powered" 5E8A circuit, which puts 40 watts into a pair of 12" alnico-magnet speakers. Power comes from a pair of GT6L6 output tubes and Fender's rarely seen mid-'50s dual rectifier arrangement (using 5U4 rectifier tubes). With this design, power amp compression or "sag" is more subtle than in many Fender tweed designs. The Twin's preamplifier contains four high-gain 12AX7 tubes, three of which may be substituted with 12AY7s for the original '50s low-gain sound. An internal bias pot allows simple substitution of various 6L6 types. The control panel details include normal and bright volumes, four ins (two normal; two bright), treble, bass and presence knobs.
The '57 Twin amplifier-one of the most collectible amps of all time-is the newest member of Fender's famous Custom Series family. Its harmonically rich clean tones are killer for classic rock, blues and country; crank it up for fat, sophisticated distortion. The '57 Twin's finger-joined solid pine cabinet resonates with a warm, woody tone. The amp is covered in true lacquered tweed fronted with classic brown/gold grille cloth. Leather strap handle on top and fitted cover included.
Perfect Compliment for Strats and Teles
Keith Richards once said that Fender guitars sound their best through Fender amps, and this is one of the coolest Fender amps you'll find. From the hand-wired circuitry to the tube complement, any guitar will sound fantastic through the '57 Twin, but if you own a Strat or a Tele, you may not have realized the full potential of you axe if you haven't played through a Fender '57 Twin.
